PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reduction of a diameter of an insertion part and to perform lens position control with high accuracy, by simple and compact constitution in an electronic endoscopic device which uses a torque wire to drive a lens.
SOLUTION: When applying a power source of the electronic endoscope, a motor is rotated toward a Tele side to a point P1 where it is loaded to be stopped. Thereafter, the motor is rotated toward a Wide side to a point P2 where it is loaded to be stopped. By counting rotation of a motor in rotation from the point P1 to the point P2, a rotational amount A1 relative to a rotatable range of the motor is detected. Assuming that a center of a mechanical movable range A3 of a cam ring is aligned with a center of the rotatable range of the motor, an area A2 used for control of the motor in the lens position control is decided from speed of revolution corresponding to the mechanical movable range A3 of the cam ring obtained in terms of design. The motor is moved to a point P3 with an endpoint P3 on the Wide side of a using area A2 as an origin in processing of the lens position control.
