A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, comprising: (1) metformin hydrochloride (2) sodium carboxymethylcellulose (3) hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (4) silicon dioxide or colloidal silicon dioxide (5) magnesium stearate, and (6) optionally Opadry® II.3. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 2, comprising (1) about 72-82% of metformin hydrochloride (2) approximately 3-5% sodium carboxymethylcellulose (3) about 15-22% hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2208 (4) approximately 0.75-1.25% silicon dioxide or about 0.25-0.75% of colloidal silica and (5) about 0.1-0.5% magniya.4 stearate. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 2, comprising (1) about 76.6% of metformin hydrochloride (2) about 3.84% sodium carboxymethylcellulose (3) about 18% hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2208 (4) about 1% silica and (5) about 0.53% magniya.5 stearate. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 4, comprising a coating, and the coating is Opadry® II.6. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 2, comprising (1) about 1000 mg metformin hydrochloride (2) about 50 mg of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (3) about 235 mg of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2208 (4) about 13 mg silicon dioxide and (5) n1.
