An apparatus for processing a signal is disclosed. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus identifies a sample interval satisfying a predetermined reference using a change in a plurality of samples based on downsampling, acquires a feature point of a signal based on a result of the identification before the downsampling is applied to the signal, and acquires time information corresponding to a position of the feature point in a feature sample interval including the feature point.일 실시예에 따른 신호 처리 장치가 개시된다. 일 실시예는 다운 샘플링에 기초한 복수의 샘플들 사이의 변화를 이용하여 미리 정해진 기준을 만족하는 샘플 구간을 식별하고, 상기 식별에 기초하여, 상기 다운 샘플링의 적용 이전의 신호의 특징점을 획득하며, 상기 특징점이 포함된 특징 샘플 구간 내에서 상기 특징점의 위치와 대응하는 시간 정보를 획득한다.
