An access port for subcutaneousimplantation is disclosed. Suchan access port may comprise a body forcapturing a septum for repeatedly insertinga needle therethrough into a cavitydefined within the body. Further, the accessport may include at least one featurestructured and configured for identificationof the access port subsequent to subcutaneousimplantation. Methods ofidentifying a subcutaneously implantedaccess port are also disclosed. For example,a subcutaneously implanted accessport may be provided and at least onefeature of the subcutaneously implantedaccess port may be perceived. Further,the subcutaneously implanted access portmay be identified in response to perceivingthe at least one feature. In one embodiment,an identification feature is engravedor otherwise defined by the accessport, so as to be visible after implantationvia x-ray imaging technology.
