The present invention provides a method for treatment of prostatic hyperplasia with banana flower extract. Such banana flower extract can suppress the proliferation of prostate cells and their ability to synthesize dihydrotestosterone. In another aspect, the banana flower extract is also used for ameliorating urinary disturbance.
