The baler (10) comprising: a frame (14); a feed system (22) coupled to the frame (14); and a compression assembly (26) in operable communication with the feed system (22), wherein the compression assembly (26) includes a baling chamber (70), a gearbox (110) having an output shaft (114), a crank arm (118) defining a first mounting point (134) and a second mounting point (138)spaced a distance from the first mounting point (134), wherein the first mounting point (134) of the crank arm (118) is coupled to and rotatable with the output shaft (114) of the gearbox (110), and a plunger (74) positioned within and reciprocally movable with respect to the baling chamber (70), the plunger (74) defining a third mounting point (146) thereon, wherein the distance between the second mounting point (138) and the third mounting point (146) is variable during a baling process.
