PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress SAR of an area not requiring suppression of magnetic resonance signals and suppress lowering of SAR of an imaged object when magnetic resonance signals are suppressed in an area of a part of an object, in an MRI apparatus.
SOLUTION: The MRI apparatus includes an RF coil for saturation to transmit saturation pulses, in addition to an RF coil for transmitting RF pulses to generate magnetic resonance signals, wherein the RF coil for saturation is used to irradiate an area for suppressing magnetic resonance signals with saturation pulses based on methods such as a space saturation method, a selective pre-saturation method, or a magnetization moving method. In the MRI apparatus, a part of coils included in a multicoil is used to irradiate an area for suppressing magnetic resonance signals with saturation pulses, wherein a whole of multicoil transmits RF pulses for generating magnetic resonance signals.
