The treatment system comprises an udder treating apparatus (48, 46, 60, 61) positioned at a treating location (38 31), intermediate the entrance region and the milk extracting location, or the milk extracting location and the exit location, with the stalls passing by the treating location, the udder treating apparatus comprising: (i) a mounting structure (48) at the treating location, and (ii) a treating section (46) which is movable between a retracted position which is out of a path of travel of the stalls and a treating position when the treating section applies a substance onto an udder of the animal which is in a stall at the treating location.
