A structural bone graft is described which is adapted to be received within abonedefect. The bone graft includes a fully synthetic graft body corresponding inshape andsize to the bone defect, the graft body composed of a plurality ofsuperimposedmultilayered structures, each of said multilayered structures consisting of abiopolymerlayer joined to a biomineral layer. The biopolymer layer and the biominerallayer maymeet at an interface which is configured to deflect crack propagationtherealong andaway from the engaged biopolymer and biomineral layers, upon the bone graftundergoing flexural stress exceeding a flexural stress limit.
