The niacinamide is believed to result in skin lightening by reducing melanosome transfer from melanocytes to keratinocytes. However, niacinamide is known to have little or no direct effect on melanin content in melanocytes. Therefore, there is still a need for compositions having multiple action forms that combine reduced melanosome transfer and reduced melanin content in melanocytes. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a composition comprising a synergistic amount of picolinamide and niacinamide that provides improved melanosome transfer inhibition.
