PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for maintaining mass garden, requiring less labor as compared with a conventional method.SOLUTION: Moss in a moss garden is exfoliated to expose a soil surface and a moss supporting layer is formed on the soil surface, the moss supporting layer of which is formed of a nonbiodegradable material, having an uneven shape on a surface and having light shielding property and water permeability. The moss exfoliated in the moss garden, to which a large quantity of soil is not attached on a lower surface thereof, is placed on the moss supporting layer.【課題】 従来に比べて手間が掛からない苔庭保全方法を提供する。【解決手段】 苔庭の苔を剥がして土壌面を剥き出しにし、生分解性を有さない素材で形成された、表面に凹凸があり、遮光性と通水性とを有する、苔支持層を土壌面上に形成し、前記苔庭から剥がした苔であって下面に多量の土が付着していない苔を前記苔支持層上に載置する。【選択図】なし
