PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cord yarn which is higher in strength than a wire and more excellent in abrasion resistance than an ordinary yarn, and which has flexibility at the same time as a fishing line.SOLUTION: A cord yarn has a multilayer structure of two or more layers including a core C and a sheath wound around the core. The core includes one or more organic polymer material yarns of 5 g/d or more which can exert linear strength. The sheath includes two kinds of materials: a material A and a material B. The material A is formed of one or more pieces of a flexible metal material having a tensile strength of 3,000 N/mm2 or less or an organic polymer having abrasion resistance to improve abrasion strength. The material B is formed of one or more organic polymer fibers having an elongation of 20% or more and an elastic modulus of 15 GPa or less which serve as a buffer between the core and the material A. The sheath includes many bundles wound by S-twisting around the core C and many bundles wound by Z-twisting therearound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
