The present invention relates to compositions, kits and methods for treatingskin at sites of concerns such as infectiouslesions and/or points of insertion of an insertable medical device to preventcontamination such as infections or protein absorptionthat may interfere with the function of the device. The composition can be atopical skin treatment composition that includespolyethylene glycol (PEG), triclosan, one or more of a salicylate, bronopol,and an acrylic emulsion, and, optionally, a solvent.
