PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powered surgical handpiece with a chuck.SOLUTION: Internal to the chuck are clamping members that releasably hold a shaft of a cutting accessory on a drive shaft (134), so that the cutting accessory rotates upon actuation of a motor. The chuck includes a collar with an opening through which the cutting accessory is inserted. The opening is non-circular in shape.
