The present specification discloses an apparatus and a method for diagnosing lung cancer using electromagnetic waves, wherein the accuracy and reliability of the result of lung cancer diagnosis can be improved by detecting an attenuating signal based on the amplitude pattern of distorted electromagnetic waves propagating through a human body and diagnosing lung cancer based on the attenuating signal and the phase information of the electromagnetic waves. The apparatus for diagnosing lung cancer using electromagnetic waves according to an embodiment of the present specification comprises: at least one receiving part for receiving electromagnetic waves generated from a transmission module； a reference signal calculating part for calculating a reference signal based on the amplitude pattern of the received electromagnetic waves； an attenuating signal detecting part for detecting an attenuating signal corresponding to a difference between the amplitude pattern of the electromagnetic waves and the reference signal； a phase detecting part for detecting the phase information of the received electromagnetic waves； and a control part for diagnosing lung cancer based on the attenuating signal and the phase information.본 명세서는 인체를 통해 전파되는 왜곡된 전자파의 진폭 패턴(amplitude pattern)을 근거로 감쇄 신호를 검출하고, 그 감쇄 신호와 그 전자파의 위상 정보를 근거로 폐암을 진단함으로써, 폐암 진단 결과의 정확도 및 신뢰도를 향상시킬 수 있는, 전자파를 이용한 폐암 진단 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로서, 본 명세서의 실시예에 따른 전자파를 이용한 폐암 진단 장치는, 송신 모듈에서 발생된 전자파를 수신하는 적어도 하나의 수신부와； 상기 수신된 전자파의 진폭 패턴을 근거로 기준 신호를 계산하는 기준 신호 계산부와； 상기 전자파의 진폭과 상기 기준 신호 간의 차이에 대응하는 감쇄 신호를 검출하는 감쇄 신호 검출부와； 상기 수신된 전자파의 위상 정보를 검출하는 위상 검출부와； 상기 감쇄 신호 및 위상 정보에 근거하여 폐암을 진단하는 제어부를 포함할 수 있다.
