The present invention relates to an extract of Salix spp obtainable byfractioning on a resin and to the process for itspreparation. The extract of the invention is characterized by an high contentin salicin derivatives, reduced content in high moleculartannins and a content in proanthocyanidins sufficient to inhibit some tissuemetal proteases. The product is formulated in oils richin .omega.-3 and .omega.-6 acids which provide a better absorption of theextract active principles, also increasing synergetically their action.
