PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article capable of suppressing breakage while being put on.SOLUTION: An underpants type absorbent article 1 has: a front girth area S1； a back girth area S2； a crotch area S3； an opening 8 around a waist regulated by a front girth area and a back girth area and arranged in a way that it encircles the waist of a wearer； exterior top sheets 70F, 70R provided for at least either the front girth area or the back girth area； and exterior back sheets 80F, 80R pasted onto the exterior top sheets. The exterior back sheets 80F, 80R extend to the opening 8 around the waist rather than to the exterior top sheets, have folding parts folded at the opening around the waist, extend along a lateral direction W orthogonal to a back and forth direction L, are provided with reinforcement sheets 200A, 200B overlapping at least a part of the folding parts.
