An electrotherapy system, apparatus and method are described. In one embodiment, a portion of the liver branch of the vagus nerve in the liver is stimulated by a lead implanted in the liver. In another embodiment, the stimulating member is delivered to a location within the gastrointestinal tract, endoscopically and under ultrasound visualization, and implanted in the target area.
