The present invention discloses a novel nanocomposite (pectin-guar gum- zinc oxide nanocomposite) which shows powerful immunostimulatory activity under in vitro conditions, using lymphocyte proliferation assay (Fig. 4). No toxicity of any kind was observed and all ingredients used fall in the GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) category. It can be used beneficially and safely as a potential therapeutic agent, especially in case of patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, where the immune system gets badly compromised, making the patient highly susceptible to bacterial and other infections.
