The apparatus (100) comprises a supporting device (101) for the person and a measuring unit (102), which is configured to determine capacitances of individual electrodes of a set of capacitive electrodes (300) being attached to the supporting device (101). The measuring unit (102) is configured to use determined capacitances to select a subset of capacitive electrodes (301, 302) out of the set of capacitive electrodes (300). The measuring unit is configured to use the selected subset of capacitive electrodes (301, 302) for measuring the one or more bio-potentials of the person.
