An ultrasonic surgical instrument for cutting a tissue of a patient includes an end effector projecting from a shaft assembly, which has an acoustic waveguide configured to acoustically couple with an ultrasonic transducer. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade, a clamp arm, and a first clamp pad. The clamp arm is coupled with the shaft assembly and is configured to selectively move relative to the ultrasonic blade from an open position and toward an ultrasonic blade to a closed position. The clamp arm further includes an abutment configured to engage a portion of the shaft assembly in the closed position thereby inhibiting further movement of the clamp arm toward the ultrasonic blade. The first clamp pad thus remains offset from the ultrasonic blade to prevent the first clamp pad from direct contact with the ultrasonic blade.La présente invention concerne un instrument chirurgical à ultrasons permettant de découper un tissu dun patient, comprenant un effecteur terminal dépassant dun ensemble formant arbre, présentant un guide donde acoustique configuré pour être couplé de manière acoustique à un transducteur ultrasonore. Leffecteur terminal comprend une lame à ultrasons, un bras de serrage et un premier tampon de serrage. Le bras de serrage est couplé à lensemble formant arbre et est configuré pour se déplacer de manière sélective par rapport à la lame à ultrasons depuis une position ouverte vers une lame ultrasonore pour prendre une position fermée. Le bras de serrage comprend en outre une butée configurée pour venir en prise avec une partie de lensemble formant arbre dans la position fermée, de façon à inhiber tout autre mouvement du bras de serrage vers la lame à ultrasons. Le premier tampon de serrage reste ainsi décalé par rapport à la lame à ultrasons ce qui permet dempêcher le premier tampon de serrage dêtre en contact direct avec la lame à ultrasons.
