PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the temperature of a container 2 from increasing excessively, resulting in deformation of the container 2, or to reject a deformed container 2.

SOLUTION: A container conveying device 24 is disposed in a sterilizing box 18. A container 2 conveyed in it from outside is guided to an emitting chamber 30. The container 2 is sterilized by irradiating the container 2 with an electron beam from the electron beam irradiation device 28. If the temperature of the container 2 increases as the result of the irradiation with the electron beam, the container may be deformed. To avoid this, the temperature of the container 2 before irradiation with the electron beam is measured by the first thermometer 70. If the temperature is higher than a set value, monitoring means provides warning to inhibit the irradiation with an electron beam. The temperature of the container after the irradiation with the electron means is measured by a second thermometer 72. If a determination means determines that the temperature is out of a set range of temperature, this container 2 is rejected.
