Examples of the disclosure relate to an apparatus for removing earwax from the ear canal of a subject. The apparatus comprises an insertion portion which is configured to be inserted into the ear canal of the subject. The apparatus also comprises a heat transfer means. The heat transfer means is configured so that heat can be transferred through the insertion portion to the earwax within the ear canal so as to enable the earwax to be melted. The apparatus also comprises removing means which are configured to remove the melted earwax from the ear canal.
