SOLUTION: A plant adapted for cool climate such as spinach, cabbage, carnation and the like is cultivated, as the plant is covered with a material that contains near infrared ray-absorbing agent having the absorption peak in the near infrared ray area of 700-800 nm, has the value A of >=1.2 derived from the formula: A=R/Fr (R is the photon flux transmission of red light of 600-700 nm based on the standard light source D65; FR is the photon flex transmission of far-red light of 700-800 nm based on the standard light source D65), and the value B of >=3% derived from the formula: B=PPF (in %)-τc [PPF (in %) is photosynthesis-effective photon flux (PPF);τc is the sunshine transmission]. In a preferred embodiment, the plant adapted for cool climate is cultivated according to this cultivation process in the season when the maximum air temperature exceeds 22 deg.C during the daytime.
