A method of and system for occupant recovery from an armoured land vehicle comprises the steps of deploying an elongate chute 62 from a first stowed position to a second deployed position, wherein the second deployed position provides a facile transit path such as to avoid one or more protruding features 66, 63 in said armoured land vehicle and then manoeuvring the occupant 64b via the elongate chute (either by moving the chute or by moving the occupant and/or stretcher along the chute), to avoid the one or more protruding features to a designated access point 67 before removing the occupant from the armoured land vehicle. In a second embodiment a foldable flexible panel chute (83, Fig 9b) is provided which comprises a plurality of flexible layers (80a, 80b, 80c, Fig 9b) comprising a flexible substrate (81a, Fig 9a) with a plurality of tiles (82A, Fig 9a).
