To provide a suture needle that facilitates insertion of a suture thread, can prevent the occurrence of tissue damage and the breakage of the needle itself in the living body suture, and is low cost.SOLUTION: A suture needle for living body suture includes a cut-out groove 12 formed in a needle abdomen 11 positioned between the tip and the proximal end of a needle 10, and for passing through the suture thread. The cut-out groove 12 is opened in the direction vertical to the axial direction of the needle 10, is inclined to the tip side of the needle 10 from the opening 13 toward the center axis position of the needle 10, and is formed so as to extend from the center axis position of the needle to the tip side of the needle.
