A prophylactic method for preventing otitis media or Eustachian tube dysfunction, or reducing the severity of symptoms thereof, decreasing the risk of future otitis media, with or without ear infection, and associated effects including acute or permanent hearing loss, speech and balance problems, behavior problems and sleep problems caused by acute, intermittent episodic, recurrent or chronic otitis media, and the need for surgical interventions involving myringotomy such as ear tubes for chronic middle ear effusions, or tympanic membrane perforation for acute drainage of effusion from the middle ear and ventilation of the middle ear, through the nasal delivery of surfactant to the Eustachian tube(s).Se describe un método profiláctico para prevenir la otitis media o la disfunción del tubo de Eustaquio, o para reducir la severidad de los síntomas de la misma, disminuyendo el riesgo de otitis media futura, con o sin la infección del oído, y los efectos asociados, que incluyen la pérdida aguda o permanente de la audición, problemas en el habla y en el equilibrio, problemas en la conducta y problemas del sueño provocados por la otitis media aguda, intermitente en episodios, recurrente o crónica, y la necesidad para intervenciones quirúrgicas que involucran la miringotomía tales como los tubos de oído para los derrames crónicos del oído medio, o la perforación de la membrana timpánica para el drenado agudo del derrame proveniente del oído medio y la ventilación del oído medio, a través de la administración nasal del tensioactivo al o a los tubos de Eustaquio.
