A syringe adaptor (50) adapted for connection to a syringe and adapted for connection to an element of a drug handling system, said syringe adaptor (50) comprising: a septa housing (500)； at least one septum (502) enclosed in said septa housing (500)； and a hollow needle (550) including a tip located in said septa housing (500) when said syringe adaptor (50) is not connected to at least one other element of said drug handling system； characterized in that the syringe adaptor further comprises a generally cylindrical main body portion (523) surrounding said septa housing (500), said septa housing (500) is rearwardly movable relative to said main body portion (523) and thereby relative to said hollow needle (550) causing said tip of said needle to pierce said at least one septum and to expose said tip.
