PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical apparatus that incorporates a mechanism which facilitates proper and repetitive coupling of loading units to an adapter assembly without degradation of operating components.SOLUTION: A switch actuator includes an activation link and a switch plunger 220 coupled to the activation link 218. An electric switch 270 is mounted on the elongate member. A rotatable lock member 250 is mounted on the elongate member and adapted for rotational movement between an unlocked condition and a locked condition. The rotatable lock member includes an actuator stop operatively engaging the switch actuator.
