The present disclosure provides a method for optimizing target resolution and transmission power of acoustic/ ultrasonic mobility aids. The method comprises generating a narrow beam ultrasonic wave using a parabolic reflector. Next, transmitting the narrow beam ultrasonic wave on to an at least one object and receiving a reflected signal from the at least one object again using a receiver, which is configured with a parabolic reflector to reduce the effective beam width of the received reflected signal.
