The present disclosure provides a method for optimizing target resolution and transmission power of acoustic/ ultrasonic mobility aids. The method comprises generating a narrow beam ultrasonic wave using a parabolic reflector. Next, transmitting the narrow beam ultrasonic wave on to an at least one object and receiving a reflected signal from the at least one object again using a receiver, which is configured with a parabolic reflector to reduce the effective beam width of the received reflected signal. The parabolic reflectors facilitate optimizing target resolution and transmission power in the acoustic mobility aid. Figures 1A and 1B
