Disclosed are: a dispersion-type feed additive composition for ruminants, which contains an acidic or neutral amino acid (i.e., a biologically active substance) in a large quantity; and a method for producing the feed additive composition. Specifically disclosed are: granules which have rumen-bypassing properties, can release the biologically active substance in the small intestine of a ruminant at a high concentration, can enhance the production of milk from a lactating cow, and can be made into a desired shape that is hardly classified even when added to a feed; and a method for producing the granules continuously and with high efficiency. The feed additive composition for ruminants comprises at least one protecting agent selected from a hydrogenated plant oil and a hydrogenated animal oil each having a melting point of higher than 50°C and lower than 90°C, lecithin, water, and an acidic or neutral amino acid. The method for producing a feed additive composition for ruminants comprises immersing a molten mixture comprising at least one protecting agent selected from a hydrogenated plant oil and a hydrogenated animal oil each having a melting point of higher than 50°C and lower than 90°C, lecithin, and an acidic or neutral amino acid in water to solidify the mixture.
