PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for allowing a user to identify image quality in each region of a reconstituted image generated on the basis of an acoustic wave signal.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition apparatus for acquiring characteristic information in a subject by using the acoustic wave signal output from a detection element having detected an acoustic wave propagated in the subject includes: a characteristic information acquisition unit for acquiring the characteristic information in each point of interest in the subject by using the acoustic wave signal an accuracy information generation unit for generating information showing a difference in accuracy between plural pieces of characteristic information by using acoustic wave detection information as a condition relating to the detection of the acoustic sound wave and a display information generation unit for generating display information capable of identifying a difference in accuracy between the pieces of characteristic information by using the information showing the characteristic information in each point of interest and a difference in accuracy, and causing a display unit to display the display information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
