A method (300) for display optimization includes receiving (302) an image of a surgical site from an imaging system. The method further includes determining (304) a region of interest at a first location within the image. The method further includes generating (306) a surgical data overlay at a first position, the first position associated with the first location of the region of interest. The method further includes detecting (310) that the region of interest has moved to a second location within the image. The method further includes, in response to detecting that the region of interest has moved to the second location, moving (314) the surgical data overlay to a second position, the second position associated with the second location. The method further includes displaying (308) the image and surgical data overlay to a user.
