The present invention relates to a system for guiding blind people using sound, and to an operating method thereof. The operating method of a sound guide apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps of: transmitting a guide message； determining whether a request for providing detailed information is received from a portable communications device； if the request for providing the detailed information is determined to be received, transmitting the detailed information to the portable communications device； determining whether a request for activating a sound output is received from the portable communications device； and if the request for activating the sound output is determined to be received, outputting sound.본 발명은 시각장애인을 위한 음향 안내 시스템 및 그 동작 방법에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 음향 안내 장치의 동작 방법은, 안내 메시지를 송출하는 단계； 휴대형 통신 장치로부터 상세 정보 제공 요청이 있는지 여부를 판단하는 단계； 상기 상세 정보 제공 요청이 있다고 판단하는 경우, 상기 휴대형 통신 장치로 상기 상세 정보를 전송하는 단계； 상기 휴대형 통신 장치로부터 음향 출력 활성화 요청이 있는지 여부를 판단하는 단계； 및 상기 음향 출력 활성화 요청이 있다고 판단하는 경우, 음향을 출력하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
