PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform alignment of volume data in reduced processing time.
SOLUTION: A plurality of search windows (three-dimensional blocks) are extracted from reference volume data (D1). Corresponding points within the search windows of input volume data (D2) corresponding to reference points set in the plurality of extracted search windows are searched from the correlations of voxel data (three-dimensional POCs) extracted from the respective search windows. Rigid deformation parameters (parameters indicating rotational divergence and positional divergence) between the reference volume data and the input volume data are estimated from the correlations between the searched corresponding points and reference points to rigid-deform the input volume data (to correct the rotational divergence and positional divergence). As for the input volume data and reference volume data after the rigid deformation process, corresponding points are searched in the same manner, and input volume data are further nonrigid deformed by means of FFD (Free-Form Deformation) using information on the searched corresponding points. The reference volume data may be rigid-deformed or nonrigid-deformed.
