Steam sterilizers, disposable / post-waste containers for use in sterilizers, and sterilization methods. The vessel is a rigid or semi-rigid vessel having a sealable elongate conduit through which the steam sterilant can be introduced into the vessel pressure, and the steam sterilant and the condensate can be removed from the vessel. Once the at least one article to be sterilized is placed inside the container, the cover is sealed over the mouth of the container. The steam sterilizer has a sterilization chamber configured to receive the container and to provide a sterilant inside and around the container.
