A storage device and manufacturing and assembly methods are provided. In one embodiment, the storage device includes an elongated microchip element comprising one or more storage reservoirs configured to be electrically activated and opened. The storage device also includes an elongated electronic printed circuit board (PCB) comprising a substrate. The elongated PCB includes a first side to which one or more electronic components are secured and an opposite second side to which the elongated microchip element is electrically connected and secured to the one or more electronic components. In addition, the storage device includes an elongated housing that is secured to the elongated PCB. The elongated enclosure is configured to hermetically seal one or more electronic components of the elongated PCB within the elongated enclosure.
