PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compost spreader which is capable of controlling transporting speed while reducing a load on a spreading part with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A compost spreader 1 includes: a transporting part 3 for transporting compost stored in a cargo box 2 a spreading part 4 for dispersing compost in a field and a driving part 6 for rotating the revolving shaft 41 of the spreading part 4. The compost spreader further comprises: a lower end frame 51 which axially support the revolving shaft 41 of the spreading part 4 constituting a vertical beater a retreat mechanism 40 which makes the lower end frame 51 retreat rearward together with the revolving shaft 41 of the spreading part 4 and a controller 7 which controls transporting speed by the transporting part 3 in accordance with the retreating rearward of the lower end frame 51.
