PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pest insect repellent capable of effectively repelling mites and termites, achieving both of improved usability and reduced costs.SOLUTION: The pest insect repellent for repelling specific kinds of pest insects includes a pest insect repelling liquid mainly composed of a vetiver root extract and a substrate for retaining the pest insect repelling liquid. The extract includes at least one of a water-soluble extract obtained by autoclave extraction of the dried vetiver plant root immersed in water, a water-soluble extract obtained by hot water extraction of the dried vetiver plant root immersed in water, and a water-soluble extract obtained by alcohol extract of the dried vetiver plant root. The specific kinds of pest insects include mites and termites.【課題】ダニや白蟻を効果的に忌避できると共に、使い勝手のよさとコストの低減を両立させる害虫忌避剤を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の害虫忌避剤は、特定種類の害虫を忌避する害虫忌避剤であって、ベチバーの根の抽出液を主成分とする害虫忌避液と、害虫忌避液を含水する基体と、を備え、抽出液は、乾燥されたベチバー植物の根を水に浸して、オートクレーブ抽出して得られる水溶性抽出物、乾燥されたベチバー植物の根を水に浸して熱水抽出して得られる水溶性抽出物および乾燥されたベチバー植物の根をアルコール抽出して得られる水溶性抽出物の少なくとも一つを含み、特定種類の害虫は、ダニ類および白蟻類を含む。【選択図】 図１
