The present invention relates to an assembly comprising: a) a composition for coating a nail, in particular a makeup or care composition, preferably having a viscosity less than or equal to 20 cPs, comprising: an aqueous continuous phase, a particulate phase comprising: i) at least one film-forming polymer in the form of particles in aqueous dispersion, ii) at least one dyestuff chosen from pigments, in particular mineral pigments, especially chosen from metal oxides, at least one polymeric dispersant that is capable of dispersing the particulate phase in the aqueous phase, b) a packaging and application system comprising an applicator and a composition reservoir in which the said composition is in loose form, the applicator being at least partly in direct fluid contact with the said composition without the intermediary of a block for retaining the said composition, the said applicator preferably having a percentage of free volume ranging from 50% to 80%.
