PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a granular treating material for animal wastes in which the absorption of the wastes of pets is early and the effusion of the wastes to a surface of the treating material is eliminated, and in which the post-absorptive cohesiveness of the wastes is good and the handleability when treated is superior.SOLUTION: A granular treating material for animal wastes is used which contains a cross-linked polymer by polymerizing a monomer composition comprising a water-soluble vinyl monomer (a1) and/or a vinyl monomer (a2) becoming the (a1) by hydrolysis as well as a crosslinking agent (c).
