PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which achieves a reduction in the diameter of a distal section and prevents deterioration of an image due to a substrate having light emitting devices.
SOLUTION: The endoscope comprises the substrate having the light emitting devices for illuminating a subject and a plurality of optical members for forming an optical image on at least one of imaging elements that compose an observation optical system for imaging a part illuminated by the light emitting devices. In the endoscope, at least a part of the substrate is arranged on the optical members. The substrate has a protection layer that prevents collapse of a resin or a filler composing the substrate and reflection of light on the end face of the substrate.
