The present invention provides a method of generating a composite ultrasound image. The method includes acquisition of channel data and beamforming. The beamformed channel data is used to obtain each image having a plurality of pixels of the region of interest and to evaluate an image information metric in which the image metric is associated with the pixels of the plurality of pixels. Acquisition of multiple images and evaluation of image metrics are performed in parallel. For each image of the plurality of images, a pixel-by-pixel weighting of each of the plurality of pixels based on the evaluation of the image information metric is determined and applied to each pixel of the plurality of pixels.
