PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial composition not only having sufficient inactivating effects on a virus, a bacterium, a fungus or the like, but also not causing fatality even when human beings or pets ingest the composition by mistake, manufacturable by an extremely simple and inexpensive method, and having deodorant effects.SOLUTION: The antimicrobial composition is obtained by adding minerals remaining when water is evaporated from sea water, and sodium acetate to 3 wt.% of an acetic acid extract from tea of Japanese cedar leaves. The antimicrobial composition is obtained, for example, by extracting the essence of the plant having the antimicrobial activities such as green leaves of the Japanese cedar with acetic acid, stirring the extracted product with the natural salt and the sodium acetate added thereto, and finally solidifying the stirred product with a proper amount of CMC gel or agar to provide the antimicrobial composition usable even when put in a room.
