The present invention relates to a device for detecting gas capable of removing toilet smell by automatically performing ventilation and spraying air freshener by detecting contaminated air in a toilet. According to the present invention, the device for detecting gas comprises: a sensing unit (110) detecting ammonia gas in a toilet a contamination determining unit (120) determining the degree of internal air contamination based on the ammonia gas detected in the sensing unit and a contamination treating unit (130) performing ventilation and spraying an air fresher if determined that the contamination of the air in the toilet rises more than or equal to the predetermined standard.
