PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate various kinds of inconvenience due to the use of an ultrasonic wave, to correctly detect an obstacle and a mobile body, and also to perform excellent detection concerning discrimination of a dangerous mobile body such as a bicycle.SOLUTION: A walking support device is a device to be attached to a portable tool such as a white stick 1. The device includes a two-frequency Doppler sensor 2 for transmitting two signals having different frequencies, detecting a distance to an object (an obstacle or a mobile body, etc.) on the basis of a phase difference between two Doppler signals obtained from the reflection signals, and detecting a relative speed of the object on the basis of the Doppler signals.
