PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-termite agent that exhibits excellent termite-controlling effects and is highly safe.SOLUTION: The anti-termite agent is constituted of an imidazole compound optionally bearing an amino group, nitro group, hydroxy group, hydrocarbon group, substituted hydrocarbon group or the like in 1-, 2- and/or 4-positions of the imidazole ring. The imidazole compound can be a 2-aryl-4-alkylimidazole such as 2-phenyl-4-methylimidazole, 2-alkylimidazole such as 2-methylimidazole, or the like. The anti-termite agent is suitable for use for treating xylem or soil.
