An improved thermocouple includes a drawn coaxial thermocouple wire pairhaving a moreprecise "hot" junction at which a first and second metallic materialelectrically connect with eachother for measuring temperature. Adapted for use with an electrophysiologiccatheter, theimproved thermocouple comprising an elongated body having a proximal end and adistal end. Thebody includes a core of a first metallic material, a first coaxial layer ofceramic material, and asecond coaxial layer of a second metallic material. The thermocouple furtherincludes a solder capon the distal end, the solder cap electrically connecting the core and thesecond layer at the distalend. A method of manufacturing includes drawing the body through a die, andapplying solder ona distal end of the body to electrically connect the two metallic materials atthe distal end.
