PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving an insect body having ability to produce a fruit body of insect parasite enabling temporary stop of formation of the fruit body of insect parasite after inoculation of the insect parasite to an insect to be infected, and thereafter resuming formation of the fruit body to easily form the fruit body so as to enable efficient production of the fruit body. SOLUTION: The method for preserving an insect body having ability to produce a fruit body of insect parasite comprises: inoculating insect parasite to an insect; storing the infected and hardened insect body 12 or an insect body 12 whose fruit body primordial are formed, in a container having a temperature at 20-25°C and a relative moisture of 55-75%; and preliminarily drying the insect body so as to make the insect body have moisture of 5-15%; and thereafter storing the insect body under the condition of cold storage or frozen storage at 0-6°C: wherein it is preferable to maintain the relative humidity in the container to 0-55% after charging the pre-dried insect body in a drying agent 15 charged in the container and store the insect body under the condition of cold storage or frozen storage at 0-6°C.
