<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lipid metabolism regulant useful for preventing or improving obesity and a fatty liver, capable of being widely utilized in pharmaceutical and food industries and, further, in animal feed and other industries, capable of inhibiting expression of a fatty acid synthetic enzyme group in a liver, capable of depressing activity thereof, and capable of decreasing amounts of triacylglycerol and cholesterol. <;P>;SOLUTION: This lipid metabolism regulant contains a 20-36C higher aliphatic alcohol as an active ingredient and depresses expression of a fatty acid synthetic enzyme, wherein a fatty acid synthetic enzyme comprises fatty acid synthase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, ATP-citrate-lyase, malic enzyme, pyruvate kinase, and glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase.
